Egypt’s representative, Al Masry suffered defeat against Malian side, AC Djoliba 2-0 in the first leg of the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

In the first half, Djoliba were awarded a penalty kick in the 16th minute, where Seydou Diallo managed to open the scoresheet and give the home side the lead.

The first half could not be worse for the Portsaid side, when Youssef Mayega added the second for Djoliba in the 45th minute after heading a wonderful cross into Ahmed Boska’s net.

Al Masry were very close to score an away goal when Ahmed Gomaa scored, but the referee cancelled the goal for offside. The game was stopped due to Al Masry’s objections, but was resumed minutes later.

The Green Eagles were keen to find the net in the second half, but their chances were obstructed by Djoliba’s immense pressure and defense.

Al Masry is set to face Djoliba in the second leg of the first round next week. The game is expected to take place in Ismailia Stadium.
