Al Ahly reveal extent of Ghaly and Ajayi injuries
In a double blow for Al Ahly, Hossam Ghaly and Junior Ajayi are set to miss their side’s crucial encounter with South Africa’s Bidvest Wits due to injury.
The Red Devils won the African Champions League clash against Bidvest Wits, thanks to Ahmed Hegazi’s header, but the duo pulled up with a hamstring injury to miss the second-leg on March 19.
The duo were both assessed yesterday and Nigeria’s Junior Ajayi will be out of action for the next three weeks, while team Captain Hossam Ghaly will miss only the next two weeks.
Al Ahly will travel to Nigeria on Thursday to face South Africa’s league leaders Bidvest Wits on March 19, and they will need at least a draw to qualify for the group-stages.
Ghaly and Junior Ajayi have been key players for the Egyptian Champions this season, with the captain featuring in 15 games, scoring once in Egypt Cup, while the Nigerian scored five times in 16 games.
