AS Roma manager Luciano Spalletti spoke about Mohamed Salah’s performance against Palermo in the league on Sunday and explained his exhaustion during the match.

The young Pharaoh featured as the Giallorossi smashed Palermo 3-0 in the 28th round of the Seria A on Sunday and moved to second place behind league leaders Juventus.

Spalletti talked about Salah after the match as the 24-year-old played for 81 minutes before being substituted. “I started the game with Salah and El Sharawy to take advantage of their speed to defuse Palermo’s defense line,” the coach told the press.

“El Sharawy played very well, but Salah was a bit tired,” he added. “We’re playing a match every two days. That was the case for the past 14 matches.”

Besides sitting in second place in the league, Roma are also in the semifinals of the Coppa Italia and the last 16 of the Europa League. The club will play against Lyon on 16 March.
