Confederation of African Football ‘CAF’ announced the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations awards which were dominated by title winners Zambia and fourth place South Africa.

Hosts  won the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after beating Senegal 2-0 on Sunday, lifting their first ever title.

Striker Patson Daka of Zambia was named Man of the Competition and his fellow teammate Mangani Banda was named Man of the Match in their victory over Senegal in the final.

South Africa won the Fair Play award and its forward, Luther Singh, was named the tournament’s top scorer with four goals and two assists. Even though Daka also scored four goals, the award was given to Singh as he played fewer games.

Egypt, however, was the least scoring team with only two goals. The Pharaohs were knocked out of the tournament from the group stage as they finished third in Group A and was ranked sixth.

It’s worth mentioning that both Zambia and Senegal qualified for the U-20 World Cup in South Korea, as well as Guinea and South Africa, who faced each other in the third place playoff.
