OFFICIAL: Ghana legend Michael Essien joins Indonesian club

Former Chelsea, AC Milan, Real Madrid and Ghana star completed a move to Indonesian side Persib Bandung.

Essien has been without a club since he was released by Panathinaikos after only 12 appearances. He was then linked with a move to the Chinese Super League and laterturned down a move to Australia’s Melbourne Victory. He eventually joined the Indonesian Premier League.

“I hope I am the prelude to other world players moving to Indonesia,” he told the press. “Hopefully this is a good beginning for Indonesian football and also for Persib.”

The midfielder who was once recognized among the best midfielders in the world signed a one-year deal contract with an option to extend for one more.

The ex-Ghana international, who is now 34, spent eight seasons at Stamford Bridge with over 250 appearances, winning two English Premier League and one UEFA Champions League titles.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
