Spalletti: Mohamed Salah could’ve done better against Lyon

AS Roma manager Luciano Spalletti believes that Mohamed Salah could’ve done much better against Lyon as they didn’t qualify to the next round despite the win.

Mohamed Salah featured on Thursday as Roma managed to beat Lyon 2-1, but the first leg’s score proved to be a heavyweight preventing them from overcoming the round of 16.

The Giallorossi had to fight back after losing the first leg 2-4 in France but despite the win on Thursday, the French side advanced to the Europa League quarters 5-4 on aggregate score.

Spalletti talked about Salah’s performance after the game when asked if some of his star players weren’t in their best form: “I think it’s pointless going over this. There are players who can have better or worse performances,”

“The other day I left out Salah and everyone complained, well tonight with his quality he could’ve done a lot better.”

Sitting second in the league with 62 points, AS Roma will play Sassuolo on March 19th in their continued quest to catch Juventus who are 8 points ahead.
