Ittihad Jeddah goalkeeper Fawaz Al Qarni hailed Egypt’s legendary goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary, revealing that he has learned a lot from him.

The 44-year-old made history becoming the oldest player to ever feature in the Africa Cup of Nations, and El-Qarni has revealed his admiration for him during that tournament.

“I have a strong relationship with El-Hadary. I am proud that I got a photo with him and El-Deayea during a game. I have learned a lot from both of them,” Al Qarni told ‘Action Ya Dawry’.

“I called him on the phone through my teammate Kahraba, congratulating him about his performance and assured him that he is an Idol for every Arab.

“I have learned a lot from El-Hadary, during the AFCON in Gabon he didn’t rush out to catch crosses and used to punch them out to not get injured,” he added.

The 22-year-old then spoke about his teammate Mahmoud Kahraba, who hopes to join the Saudi side permanently, saying that he has adapted to life at Ittihad.

“The squad like Kahraba. He has adapted to life at Ittihad and became like us. The talk about him having a dispute with the chairman before the cup final is just exaggerations from the opponents and the proof is that he ran towards him after scoring,” he concluded.

Ittihad Jeddah are currently fourth in the Saudi Professional League with 44 points, nine points behind leaders Al Hilal, and their next game will be against second-placed Al Nassar on Friday, April 7.
