Talaat Youssef’s Al-Ahli Tripoli reach Champions League group stages

Egyptian coach Talaat Youssef managed to lead Al-Ahli Tripoli to qualify to the group stages of the 2017 CAF Champions League after a 3-3 draw on aggregation with Fath Union Sport.

After eliminating newly-founded FC Johansen from Sierra Leone in the in the round of 64 of the tournament, Youssef’s side threw out Moroccan tier Fath Union Sport.

The Rabat-based club scored the first two goals in the first half of the game and were eager to end the game as the second half started. Luckily for The Leader, Anis Saltu scored a goal for his team as the second part of the match began. Later, Fath Union managed to score a third goal in the dying minutes of the match which was not enough for them to qualify.

Even though Al-Ahli Tripoli lost the second leg match 3-1 in Morocco, the team qualified to the next round after a draw on aggregate and thanks to an away goal. The Libyan side defeated Fath Union in the first leg match 2-0.
