Al Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry revealed on Sunday that his main goal is to win the CAF Champions League title with the Red Devils.

Following their goalless draw with Bidvest Wits in the second leg of the round of 32, the Cairo giants secured their spot at the CAF Champions League group stage with a 1-0 aggregate victory over the South African side.

“It was a tough game but we managed to achieve our target,” El-Badry said in a televised interview following the away match at Johannesburg.

“My main goal is to win the CAF Champions League title with Al Ahly,” he added.

Al Ahly missed the services of team captain Hossam Ghaly and Nigerian striker Junior Ajayi in the second leg as the duo suffered hamstring injuries.

The 57-year-old coach praised the Al Ahly players, saying their experience allowed them to take control of the match and prevent the home side from scoring.

“We deserved a penalty in the first half, and Amr Gamal’s chance would have killed off the tie,” he added.

Al Ahly had a penalty appeal turned down when Amr Gamal went down in the box only three minutes into the game. Gamal was also close to scoring in the final minutes but his left-footed finish slammed against the post.
