Zamalek striker Emmanuel Mayuka called up to Zambia squad
Zamalek striker Emmanuel Mayuka is among 28 players called up by Zambia coach Wedson Nyirenda for a friendly match against Tanzania on Friday.
The game, which will take place at Dar es Salaam, will be part of Zambia’s preparations for the African Nations Championship qualifiers against Swaziland in July.
“Most of the players are locals, the only professionals that we have added to the list are Kennedy Mweene and Mayuka,” Nyirenda told Zambia’s football association official website.
“It has been a long time he has been with us [Mayuka], he is playing well he has been doing well for Zamalek. We want to see how he can play and fit in with our philosophy,” he added.
Mayuka joined Zamalek in Jan. 2016 from French side FC Metz. He scored six goals in 29 games for the White Castle since joining a little over a year ago.
The 26-year-old striker last played for the Chipolopolo at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in their Group B match against Tunisia, scoring Zambia’s only goal in their 2-1 loss.
