Al Ahly football director and former player Sayed Abdel-Hafiz spoke about his team’s interests in seven Egyptian Premier League players that the Red Devils will consider signing after the current season ends.

The Red Castle’s African squad list includes 26 players, which means that the team can add four more players. Something that will be essential for coach Hossam El-Badry who revealed earlier that he is aiming to win the CAF Champions League again.

“Ayman Ashraf, Mahmoud Alaa, Ahmed Dowidar are under our radar, in addition to Youssef Obama who is a very special player,” Abdel-Hafiz told ON Sport TV channel. “Stanley Ohawuchi is also a special player but he played with Zamalek in the Champions League which means we will not be able to include him in our African squad list. We might be using his services locally though.”

He also revealed that Al Ahly is interested in ENPPI’s striker Amr Marey and Wadi Degla’s Amr Arafa.

“There are also three Zamalek players whose contracts will end this season. If they would like to join the Red Castle we will start negotiations with them,” he added without giving away their names. “This does not mean any disrespect towards our opponents, We won’t mind of course if Zamalek negotiated any Al Ahly players who finished their contracts.”

Abdel-Hafiz explained that registering players will be different this year now that the round of 16 of the Champions League will be played in group stages, therefore, registration will open on 20 April until 5 August, which gives the team more time to support their squad with players who recently joined the club or with new signings.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
