SQUASH: Egyptian trio in Men British Open quater-finals
Five Egyptians including Mohamed El-Shorbagy and Nour El Sherbini have qualified to the British Open squash tournament quarter-finals.
Egyptian champion El-Shorbagy was able to defeat his English opponent Daryl Selby 0-3. He will be playing against fellow Egyptian Ali Farag who reached the next round after defeating Tsz Fung Yip also 0-3, both players secured an Egyptian spot in the semi-finals.
Also, Tarek Momen was able to beat New Zeland’s Paul Coll 3-0 after a long 62-minute match. He will be playing against British Nick Matthew.
On the women’s side, Nour El Sherbini eliminated Hong Kong’s Annie Au and will face British Emily Whitlock in the quarter-finals. Ranem El-Welily also qualified with El Sherbini after she thrashed her Indian opponent Joshna Chinappa 3-0.
Egyptians made history in the British Open tournament last year after an all Egyptian men’s and women’s final for the first time in the tournament’s history.
