Ghana Football Association’s technical director Francis Oti Akenteng has spoken about their 2018 World Cup qualifying chances after their slow start.

Ghana’s World Cup qualifying chances suffered a severe blow after drawing against Uganda in their first game then losing to Egypt and Akenteng believes that “It’s really difficult to qualify”.

“It’s really difficult to qualify ahead of Egypt now, had we been leading them by five points we wouldn’t have allowed them to qualify. Now they’re in the lead so they will not allow us to qualify too,” he said in a radio interview.

The Black Stars face an uphill task of qualifying to the World Cup as they now need to win all of their four remaining matches, however, Akenteng still remains hopeful of their chances in qualifying.

“We will do our best to win the remaining four matches and hopefully qualify to the world cup,” he added.

Ghana’s next two matches in the World Cup qualifiers will be against Congo on the 28th of August at home, then September 2 in Brazzaville.
