Zamalek and Zambia forward Emmanuel Mayuka has been ruled out of a friendly international against Zimbabwe next Sunday.

The 26-year-old was called up by Zambia manager Wedson Nyirenda for their friendly against Zimbabwe, as they prepare for the African Nations Championship qualifiers, but was then ruled out due to logistical challenges.

The former Southampton forward couldn’t travel in time as he had to travel back to Egypt first after Zamalek faced Enugu Rangers in Nigeria in the round of 32 of the CAF Champions League.

“Mayuka could not be with the team because for this game at the time we called him his team had a game in Nigeria and he had to go back to Egypt and then the business of re-connecting so we excused him,” Nyirenda said.

The Chipolopolo were scheduled to face Tanzania on Friday, but the proposed game fell through and they will face Zimbabwe instead in their preparations for the Swaziland game in the CHAN qualifiers next July.

Mayuka hasn’t featured for his national team since the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tie against Tunisia, when he scored his side’s only goal in their 2-1 loss.
