Former Al Ahly forward Flávio da Silva Amado has been appointed as Angola’s assistant manager, the Angolan FA have confirmed.

The newly appointed manager Beto Bianchi has chosen Flávio as his assistant for the Angola national team, which will face South Africa as they prepare for the 2019 AFCON qualifiers next June.

Angola were drawn in group I in the AFCON qualifiers alongside Burkina Faso, Botswana, and Mauritania, and will hope to qualify from their group after missing out on the last two tournaments.

Flávio, who has retired in January 2015, joined Al Ahly in 2005 and went on to be one of their best ever foreign players and legendary strikers, and hopefully he will have a successful career as a coach as he had as a player.

Angola’s first and only goalscorer at a World Cup tournament, scored 56 goals in over than 150 appearances for the Reds, leading them to three Champions League and five Egyptian Premier League titles.
