Mortada announces Mohamed Helmy’s departure
Zamalek chairman Mortada Mansour has announced the departure of Mohamed Helmy from his position as the Whites manager.
Mortada Mansour gave Mohamed Helmy a second opportunity to manage the White Knights after Momen Soliman’s departure last November due to poor results, yet Helmy continued to bring Zamalek’s performance slope in a declining direction.
The Whites sit third in the Egyptian Premier League with 40 points, while El-Maqqasa is in second with 48 points and Al Ahly is four points clear on the top of the table with 52 points, and still have a game in hand.
“Mohamed Helmy played his role, but he wants to leave,”Mortada Mansour said. “Neither me nor the fans were happy with our performance, because we have the best players across the country,” he added.
Mortada also revealed that Helmy sent a message to the club’s board member Hany Zada, telling him that he has no problem if the board want to change the managerial staff, as he has no intention of continuing his job.
“The Egyptian manager attempt proved that it was a failure, the players do not respect except the foreign coaches,” he added.
Zamalek’s next match will be against Momen Soliman’s Smouha in the Egyptian Premier League on Saturday, April 1 at Borg El-Arab Stadium.
