An unfortunate day for the Egyptian trio in the British Open Squash Championships semi-finals, as all of them were defeated in their matches.

In the Women’s Semi-Final, Nour El Sherbini, World no.1, was defeated 2-3 to England’s Laura Massaro after leading with 2 games to 0. Massaro made an impressive comeback to win 5-11, 7-11, 11-5, 11-3, 11-6.

The outcomes were the same in the Men’s Semi-Final as both Mohamed El Shorbagy and Ramy Ashour lost their matches.

Mohamed El Shorbagy lost to England’s Nick Matthew 1-3 (8-11, 8-11, 11-8, 5-11), Shorbagy will lose his rank as world no.1 in April’s PSA Rankings, with either Karim Abdel Gawad or Gregory Gaultier taking his place, depending on tomorrow’s final. If Gaultier wins the title, he will be world no.1, and if not Karim Abdel Gawad will take the PSA Rankings lead.

In the 2nd semi-final, Gregory Gaultier took the 1st game 11-9 before the artist Ramy Ashour retired from the match for an injury. It was 9-9 when Ramy was not able to run for the ball and lost the last 2 balls in the game and then retires.
