Volleyball: Al Ahly through to African Club Championship final
Al Ahly reached the final of the African Volleyball Club Champions Championship after beating Bourj Bouaririj of Algeria 3-1 on Sunday.
Al Ahly won the opening set 25-15, before the Algerian side equalised the match at one set apiece, winning the second set 25-23. Al Ahly then took a marathon third set at 30-28, before claiming a 25-18 win in the fourth set to reach the final.
Al Ahly had defeated Kenya Prisons 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-19) in the quarterfinals. The Red Castle had also won their three games in the group-stage against Cameroon’s Bafia 3-0, hosts Espérance de Tunis 3-0 and Al Ahli Benghazi of Libya 3-1.
Record holders Al Ahly will now face the winner of the other semi-final between Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel and Swehly of Libya.
