Hector Cuper praises ‘incomparable’ El-Hadary
Egypt national team head coach Hector Cuper believes Essam El-Hadary’s footballing career is extraordinary, saying he’s an “incomparable player”.
The former Al Ahly, Zamalek and Ismaily goalkeeper, who turned 44 in January, was key in helping Egypt reach the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations final. Egypt’s goalkeeping coach said previously that if the team reached the World Cup the staff will call the veteran goalkeeper to join the national team.
“El-Hadary has a unique personality, whoever can compete at this age with young goalkeepers must be a unique player,” Cuper told CBC TV channel.
“I have never seen someone like El-Hadary all my life. Even worldwide, legendary Gianluigi Buffon is 40-years-old but Hadary is still different.”
The Argentinian coach thinks that the current Wadi Degla keeper is performing well at such age mainly because of his talent and cleverness. “This helped him overcome a lot of obstacles,” he concluded.
