EXCLUSIVE: Angola’s Beto excited to work with Flavio
KingFut got in touch with Angola national team manager Beto Bianchi to get his thoughts on ex-Ahly striker Flavio’s appointment as assistant manager.
Flavio Amado, who played for Al Ahly between 2005 and 2009, was appointed as the Angola national team assistant manager on Saturday.
“It is a pleasure [to be working with him]! Flavio Amado has been working with me at Petro [Atletico] in Luanda. When I was hired by this club Flavio was already there. He had left his playing career and stepped up as a coach assistant,” Beto enthused.
“Now that the [national team] has hired me I have brought Flavio with me because he is an excellent person and a great professional. With the experience that he has, he can help a lot the players by giving advice.
Beto then talked about his expectations for the coming period.
“I’m sure he’s going to help a lot with his experience to our younger players! We are initiating a new project to return to the Angola team its true value that was lost during those last years,” he concluded.
The 37-year-old is the only Angolan player to score at a World Cup finals, having done so in their lone appearance at Germany in 2006.
