Zamalek board member Ahmed Mortada Mansour has declared that the club is close to deciding on the identity of the new first team coach.

Zamalek current manager Mohamed Helmy had announced earlier in the week that he is leaving his position, explaining his decision as a way of “taking pressure off club officials”.

“Negotiations are still ongoing with a number of managers. We will take a final decision today and try to find an agreement within the next 48 hours,” Mansour told a local radio station on Wednesday.

“The coach whom we will find an agreement with should arrive on Saturday.”

The White Castle president Mortada Mansour had stated that Mali manager Alain Giresse accepted the Zamalek job, with the agent of the French manager confirming talks between parties.

“It is not over yet with Alain Giresse, but Augusto Inácio is the favourite to replace Mohamed Helmy as Zamalek coach.”
