Mahmoud Kahraba reveals dream of playing in La Liga
Egypt international Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim ‘Kahraba’ has spoken about his time with Ittihad, his achievements, and his dream of playing in La Liga.
The 22-year-old player joined the Saudi side on a season-long loan from Egyptian side Zamalek during the 2016 summer transfer window. Earlier this month, he scored the winner as Ittihad defeated Al Nassr 1-0 in the Crown Prince Cup final.
“I haven’t received my salary for the past three months, but I’m not upset because I know the club’s management is honest and fair. I thank my teammates for understanding the situation,” Kahraba said in an interview with MBC Action program “Action Ya Dawry”.
Kahraba, who was part of the Pharaohs’ squad that reached the 2017 AFCON final, discussed the importance of the current phase of his career and spoke about some of the most unforgettable moments in his footballing career.
“I will never forget [participating at] the Africa Cup of Nations with the national team and my goal against Morocco, as well as meeting with President [Abdel-Fattah] Al-Sisi. I will never forget meeting Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince either.
“It was my childhood dream to achieve such great things,” added Kahraba.
Kahraba also spoke about Ittihad’s friendly game against Atletico Madrid in December, which ended in a 3-2 victory for the Spanish side.
“I’m grateful to the club for the chance to play against Atletico Madrid, and I’m also grateful for the Ittihad fans.”
When asked about his future plans, the Egypt international said that he dreams of playing at one of La Liga’s top teams.
The winger then shifted to Egyptian football, saying he hopes fans would be allowed to return to stands soon.
Fans have been banned from attending domestic football matches since February 2012 when 72 Ahly fans died in the Port Said stadium disaster.
“Fan groups in Egypt do not have problems with anybody, and do not insult anyone,” he concluded.
