Zamalek Chairman Mortada Mansour has re-announced his decision to forfeit the league after Zamalek’s loss to Sharkia in gameweek 21 of the Egyptian Premier League.

Mansour announced his decision in a press conference following Zamalek’s loss to Sharkia via an offside goal in the second half.

This is the second time the Zamalek chairman has threatened to forfeit Zamalek from the league. Mansour had announced in early March that Zamalek was not gonna continue the league after controversial refereeing calls in the team’s match against Misr El-Maqassa. The Zamalek board later withdrew their decision after Mansour met with EFA President Hany Abou-Rida.

Mortada’s decision came after similar circumstances, which he described as deliberate: “There is a conspiracy against Zamalek in this period, and we are being forced to lose matches and eventually not win any titles.”

“Refereeing expert Ahmed El-Shennawy assured that the player who scored the Sharkia score was in an offside position, and that opens the debate about controversial refereeing in the league once again,” he said.

Mortada Mansour concluded, “we had requested from the EFA that Mahmoud Ashour not referee any of Zamalek’s game, but our request was ignored, so we will forfeit the league.”
