Former Zamalek player and current Wadi Degla manager Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’ wished success to Augusto Inacio as he gets ready to start his post as the White Knights’ head coach.

Zamalek board member Ahmed Mortada Mansour announced earlier that the club will sign a one-and-a-half year contract with the Portuguese coach to take charge of the football team as coach Mohamed Helmy was sacked after poor results in the league. According to the club, the deal will be announced on Saturday as Zamalek will present the new coach in an official press conference in Meet Okba.

“I wish all the best to Inacio. I also hope that the club has learned from past mistakes that led to losing easy tournaments,” former Zamalek coach Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’ said in radio comments. “Inacio is an experienced coach, I wish him a good start since his start with the team will be vital.”

Mido pointed out that the new coach can earn support from players and media in addition to fans’ trust if he wins his first games.

“A great coach like Manuel Jose did not have an impressive history in Portugal, but he made history when took over Al Ahly,” he added pointing out that Inacio can do the same. “Inacio has been coaching for 26 or 27 years and he has good experience. I hope he has the ability to deal with pressure in Zamalek in addition to understanding the players, that will be extremely important.”

The former Zamalek and Ismaily coach also spoke about the club’s star Shikabala and gave advice to Inacio on how to correctly deal with him. “Since I have a good connection with Shikabala, I advice Inacio to give him sufficient game time to help him get back on track,” he explained. “Everyone should be patient with Shikabala until he’s back to what he was before.”

As for the team’s technical staff, Mido confessed that he wished Abdel-Halim Ali reached an agreement with the club’s board as he thinks Ali is respectful and disciplined. “He can create a proper system and spreads good vibes between players. That’s what Zamalek need now,” he said.

Ali however apologized to the board as he will not be able to take the new post instead of Ismail Youssef who was appointed as head of football sector since he already signed a contract with a TV channel to analyze league matches.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
