Roma winger Mohamed Salah has talked about his side’s recent elimination from the Italian Cup and his team’s chances of winning the Serie A.

Roma were most recently eliminated from the Italian Cup after winning 3-2 against Lazio, but losing 4-3 on aggregate against their arch rivals. It’s a match which saw Salah score two goals, but weren’t enough to help Roma advance to the final.

Salah talked to Sky Sports 24 about his side’s loss and their reaction saying: “It’s not easy for us to digest the elimination from the Italian Cup because we want to win something. We lost against Lazio in the semi-finals and this is football, but we want to redeem ourselves.”

Roma have been criticized lately for not performing in important matches, especially after being knocked out of the Europa League against Lyon.

“What we lack in big games ? I think we’re doing well, we were eliminated against Lyon even though we won at home and the same against Lazio however this doesn’t mean we should do better.”

The Giallorossi are set to travel away to face Bologna in the Serie A with them being ranked second with six points behind league leader Juventus.

“We believe we can catch up with Juventus, the match against Bologna will not be easy but we want to win. We must do better in front of goal as a team.

“Juventus are leading by six points and are a good team with great players, but we must focus on ourselves and play our way.

“With Dzeko scoring a lot of goals we are second, but we need to win the next eight games. Since Spalletti took over we started playing better as he gave us an identity and made us grow in several aspects.”
