Al Ahly‘s head coach Hossam El Badry confirmed that the club has no intention in selling its Tunisian left back, Ali Maaloul next summer.

In his interview with Tunisian radio station, ‘Saraha FM’, El Badry stated, “Some media outlets reported that we offered Maaloul for sale for 5 million dollars, whereas Espérance Sportive de Tunis only offered 3 million.”

He added, “Maaloul and I were laughing at these false rumors, as Espérance has not initiated any negotiations for Maaloul or any other player. They have only inquired about Maaloul at the beginning of the season, but I informed the director of football, Sayed Abdel-hafiz, of my disapproval.”

“It is very illogical to talk about any possible transfer for Maaloul, especially that he is enrolled in the Champions League roster, and him leaving would be very harmful to Al Ahly.”

On his absence from many games such as Premier League clashes against Al Dakhleyia and Petrojet, El Badry stated, “Maaloul was called for international duty with Tunisia and got back 48 hours before Al Dakhleyia game. At the same time, teammates Hussien El Sayed and Sabry Rahil were performing well in friendly games during the international break.”

He added, “I am also obliged to apply a rotation policy with the increase of Premier League and Champions League clashes to keep the players ready and to avoid injuries.”

On upcoming Ittihad of Alexandria game, Al Ahly coach stated, “Maaloul is most likely going to start against Ittihad in the Premier League, I don’t have any technical problem with him.”

The 27-year-old has made 17 appearances since joining the Red Devils last summer from CS Sfaxien, scoring only once and assisting four times.
