Zamalek new coach Augusto Inacio spoke about a discussion he had with Shikabala regarding the problems the team is facing and his future goals for the next period.

Portuguese coach Augusto Inacio has officially put pen-to-paper as Zamalek’s new head coach following the dismissal of Mohamed Helmy.

Inacio spoke to Portuguese media outlet Record about his first impressions in the club and about a discussion with Zamalek’s star Shikabala. “I was welcomed by everyone here, it truly felt like being in one of the biggest clubs in Africa,” Inacio told Record.

“I’ve met Shikabala in the spa, he came to me right away and we hugged,” he added. “We did not get enough time to speak though but I got a good overview of the team’s bad condition, something that Shikabala confirmed.”

The newly appointed coach assured that winning the league title this season is not even an option since Zamalek are currently in fourth place with only 40 points while arch rivals Al Ahly are on top of the league with a wide gap. “We will do our best to reach the CAF Champions League but our main goal is to win Egypt Cup,” he concluded.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
