Al Ahly: It is too early to announce ourselves as league winners
Al Ahly technical staff spoke about the team’s last win against Ittihad of Alexandria and their strategy to secure the league title this season.
The Red Devils snatched a win after Amr El-Sulaya scored his side’s only goal against Ittihad of Alexandria in the 24th fixture of the Egyptian Premier league.
“Our policy is to respect all competitors and treating each match separately and seriously. Winning the league is not easy and we still have a lot of challenges ahead that we need to deal with wisely,” Sayed Abdel-Hafiz, the club’s football director told Al Ahly TV channel. “Al Ahly’s personality and style can force itself on competitors and same goes for our players.”
Abdel-Hafiz said that the team is currently getting ready for the next round as they face Aswan which he thinks is a tough match since Aswan are struggling to avoid relegation and have nothing to lose. The Cairo-giants will head to the south of Egypt on Saturday one day before the match.
“We still have 11 more rounds in the league, it is too early to say that we already won the title as if it is only a matter of time,” he added.
Assistant manager Sayed Moawad discussed Al Ahly’s last encounter against Ittihad of Alexandria in the league and told DMC TV channel that the team played well and managed to secure the three points even though the last quarter of the match was a bit hard on them. “We gained a lot from this match, Abdallah El-Said performed very well, Hossam Ashour shined and Maaloul returned to the squad,” he said.
The former Al Ahly player also said that Misr El-Maqassa is currently the main and real competitor for the Red Castle. “We need to widen the gap between them before the final matches in the league,” he added.
