Volleyball: Al Ahly to face Shams in Women’s African Clubs Championship semi-final
Al Ahly will face El-Shams in the semi-final of the 2017 Women’s African Volleyball Clubs Championship on Friday.
The Red Devils, who were most recently crowned as Egypt Cup champions, secured their spot in the semi-final after defeating Algeria’s GS Petroliers 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-10).
Meanwhile, Egypt’s other representative El-Shams claimed an easy 3-0 win (25-12, 25-19, 25-16) over Cameroon’s Injis to set up an all-Egyptian semi-final clash with Al Ahly.
The other semi-final will see organisers Carthage of Tunisia face Kenya Prisons after they defeated Sfaxien and Pipeline respectively.
Eight-time African champions Al Ahly had finished on top of Group B with 12 points after defeating all their opponents; Algeria’s Bejaia, Tunisia’s Marsa, University of Zimbabwe, and Prisons of Kenya.
Their semi-final opponents El-Shams qualified for the quarter-finals with three wins against their three Group D rivals Tunisia’s Sfaxien, FAP of Cameroon and ARSU of Seychelles.
