Trézéguet nets a brace in Mouscron win over Roeselare

Royal Mouscron halted their winless steak in the ongoing 2017 Europa league playoffs after suffering defeats in their previous matches.

SV Roeselare played host to Royal Mouscron as the latter triumphed 5-3, thanks to Egypt international Trézéguet who struck a brace and provided one assist.

Senegalese attacker Simon Diédhiou gave the visitors in the lead just before he provided an assist for Trézéguet as they went up 2-0 at halftime.

However, in the second half, Roaselare scored three quick goals courtesy of Gulan, Cornet and Lépicier and took total control of the game.

In the 67th minute, Trézéguet completed his brace as he restored parity for Mouscron. A few minutes later, he provided an assist for D. Matulevičius as they regained the lead in the encounter once again.

Trézéguet’s side put the final nail on the coffin to cement their first triumph in the group, as Zelotic scored an own goal, after failing to deal with a Trézéguet cross. The game ended 5-3 in favor of Royal Mouscron.

The strong performance from Trézéguet comes off the back of reports that his parent club, Anderlecht, will look to sell him when he is recalled. After the match, Mouscron manager Mircea Rednic stated that “Trézéguet made the difference today”, perhaps indicating that Mouscron could be interested in making the loan move permanent.
