Al Ahly manager Hossam El Badry spoke to ON TV about the players’ spirits, the team’s objective in local and foreign competitions, and their focus on the CAF Champions League.

After the recent 2-0 win over Aswan, Al Ahly sits on top of the Egyptian Premier League table with 64 points, ten above second-place Misr El-Maqassa.

El Badry and his players await the CAF Champions League group stages draw, which is scheduled to take place on April 26, to learn of their opponents after beating South Africa’s Bidvest to reach the group stages.

When asked about Al Ahly’s objectives for this season and how him and his players are preparing, El Badry pinted out that the team’s objective is the same for every season.

“Al Ahly’s objectives don’t change from season to season. The objective is always to win every competition we take part in,” he said, and continued, “This is always our goal, but of course, the African competition is our biggest goal.”

He recalled, “I spoke to [Al Ahly President] Mahmoud Taher about areas of support and strengthening. In every conversation we have, we tend to diverge and speak about the CAF Champions League because it is the biggest goal, and I hope we can achieve that goal.”

El Badry showed his extreme happiness and support in regards to his players and their readiness.

“I’m very happy with the spirit that is present among the players, those who start the matches and those who do not. The competition for every position is high and its is very positive and beneficial,” he explained.

El Badry continued, “Every player on the squad list is ready and capable to play, there is just minor differences, and we always try to prepare everyone.”

“Many of our youth products will get a chance to play in the upcoming period if everything goes as planned,” he added.

When asked about the situation between Zamalek and El-Maqassa, El Badry was neutral and claimed that he only focuses on his team.

“With all due respect to Zamalek and all other teams, we only focus on ourselves to achieve our goals without depending on external factors. There are things we are isolated from, but we must know that some circumstances may require our full cooperation and seriousness,” he concluded.
