Second division Egyptian side Pharco Football Club have appointed Portuguese coach Rui Aguas to lead the team starting next season.

The Alexandrian club currently plays in the Egyptian second division and are aiming for promotion to the Egyptian Premier League for the first time in their history.

Aguas, a former striker who played for Benfica and Porto, will be getting ready for his third coaching mission abroad after the work developed in the formation of Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal and leading Cape Verde national team for two years.

“I want to say thank you to all football friends who contacted me and gave their support in this previous period. Next season I will be coaching in the Second Egyptian League, working hard to promote Pharco FC to the first League for the first time in their history,” he said on Facebook.

“I’m confident that we’ll be successful in this new challenge,” he added.

The former Portuguese international also worked before as an assistant coach for Portugal national team, C.S. Marítimo and Sporting de Braga.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
