Mohamed Salah scored a brace for his Roma side, who comfortably handled bottom of the league Pescara to maintain a 4 point lead ahead of Napoli in the Serie A table.

Roma XI v Pescara: Szczesny; Rudiger, Fazio, Manolas, Emerson; Paredes, Strootman; Salah, Nainggolan, El Shaarawy, Dzeko

The match started very quickly for both Roma and Salah, who put the ball in the back of the net in just the 2nd minute. The goal was initially allowed to stand, then ruled out for offside. Replays would go on to show that Salah was actually onside.

Nevertheless, Roma kept pressing, creating several half chances in the first half. Roma dominated possession with Pescara having very limited spells with the ball.

Finally, Roma found a breakthrough in the 44th minute from a Kevin Strootman goal. Leandro Paredes played an excellent through ball to El Shaarawy, who squared for Strootman to tap in.

Just one minute later, Roma would grab their second goal before the half time whistle. Dzeko squared the ball across the box to Radja Nainggolan, who passed the ball into the net between the Pescara keeper’s legs.

After the break, Roma picked up right where they left off. Mohamed Salah picked up a ball outside the edge of the box and scored a curler on his cultured left foot.

In the 60th minute, Salah would win the ball in Roma’s own third to start a counterattack. He fed the ball through to El Shaarawy, and El Shaarawy played it straight back to the sprinting Salah for a calm finish. Libyan international Ahmed Benali would score a consolation goal for Pescara in the 83rd minute.

The goals saw Salah reach 17 goals for the campaign, his highest in any single season, despite missing some time with injury.
