Smouha in Group C as CAFCC draw announced

Egyptian Premier League side Smouha has been drawn in Group C as the draw for CAF Confederations Cup took place on Wednesday.

Smouha had succeeded in reaching CAFCC group stages after prevailing over South Africa side Bidvest in round of 32, beating them 1-0 on aggregate.

The Alexandria-based club will battle for a qualification to the quarterfinals in Group C against Zambia’s Zesco United, Angola’s Recreativo Desportivo do Libolo and Sudan’s Al Hilal Obeid.

Full draw:

Group A: FUS Rabat (Morocco) – Club Africain (Tunisia) – Rivers United (Nigeria) – Kampala CCA (Uganda)

Group B: CS Sfaxien (Tunisia) – Platinum Stars (South Africa) – MC Alger (Algeria) – Mbabane Swallows (Swaziland)

Group C: Zesco United (Zambia) – Recreativo Desportivo do Libolo (Angola) – Al Hilal Obeid (Sudan) – Smouha FC (Egypt)

Group D: TP Mazembe (Congo) – Supersport United (South Africa) – Horoya AC (Guinea) – CF Mounana (Gabon)

The group stages round is set to kick off in May.
