The Latics were officially relegated to League One, with one game in hand, after a 1-0 loss to Reading in the Championship.

Sam Morsy was an unused substitute as he watched his team concede in the 6th minute through Yann Kermorgant who headed his 17th goal of the season, leading his team to qualify to the Premier League Playoffs.

Wigan tried to come back in the 24th minute through Michael Jacobs, but his shot went wide. The Latics were very close to find the net in the 35th minute after a wonderful cross to Nick Powell but his header was saved by Reading’s goalkeeper, Ali El Habsi.

Wigan began the second half pressuring positively to find the equalizer, and they almost did through Callum Conolly in the 51st minute after a wonderful corner cross, but his header hit the side net.

The Latics were on good form this season; however, they needed to win two of their past three fixtures to remain in the Championship. Wigan were promoted from League One last season after finishing first with 87 points.
