Elneny left out of Arsenal’s squad as Gunners lose to Tottenham
Egypt international Mohamed Elneny was left out of the squad as Arsenal lost the North London Derby to Tottenham on Sunday.
Arsenal’s XI: Čech, Monreal, Koscielny, Paulista, Gibbs Oxlade-Chamberlain, Xhaka, Ramsey; Alexis, Özil; Giroud.
Tottenham’s XI: Lloris, Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Dier, Wanyama, Eriksen, Alli, Son; Kane.
Tottenham started the game with dominance and the Gunners were not able to handle it, however, there were no dangerous chances until the 23rd minute when Harry Kane’s shot got deflected and Dele Alli failed to head home, before Eriksen hit the post after a great run from Son.
Tottenham were all over Arsenal in the opening 30 minutes as Arsenal were exposed and constantly committing mistakes, but the first-half ended 0-0.
The second-half started with Arsenal looking much better, but unfortunately for them in the 55th minute Dele Alli opened the scoreline after he pounced on rebounded save of an Christian Eriksen shot.
In the 58th minute, Gabriel Paulista fouled Harry Kane inside the box and Kane scored the second for Tottenham from the spot.
After the second goal, Arsenal were very demotivated and couldn’t reach the goal. The game was a bit balanced but still Arsenal failed to connect upfront, to end the game 2-0 to Tottenham.
The result means that Arsenal sit sixth, five points behind Manchester United, but the Gunners have a game in hand. Their next game will be against Man United on Sunday, May 7 at the Emirates Stadium.
