Entag El-Harby put an end to Al Ahly’s seven-match winning streak after holding the league leaders to a 1-1 draw at El-Salam Stadium in the 26th round of the Egyptian Premier League.

The first half was uneventful as both teams failed to break through the defense with both sides committing too many fouls in the opening minutes of the game that forced the referee to show the yellow card three times in the first half hour.

The first scoring chance came after 36 minutes when Salah Amin dribbled past Ramy Rabia to go one-on-one with Sherif Ekramy who cleared Amin’s effort.

Seven minutes later, Al Ahly’s manager Hossam El-Badry was sent to the stands by the referee for a disrespectful gesture, before both teams headed to the dressing room with a goalless draw.

Two minutes into the second half, Al Ahly’s streak of nine successive clean sheets came to an end as Entag took the lead. Mohamed Abou-Sheashaa played a corner into Al Ahly’s penalty area, and unmarked Oumed Oukri headed the ball into Ekramy’s net.

However, Al Ahly managed to respond quickly after Abdallah El-Said played a low cross that deflected past Entag’s defender before it hit Ajayi’s chest into Amer Amer’s net.

Amr El-Sulaya and Amr Gamal came on to replace Hossam Ghaly and Junior Ajyai, however, the Red Devils continued to struggle as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Following the final whistle, Hossam Ashour has been shown the red card for misconduct.

Al Ahly are now at the top of the table with 68 points, eight away from second-placed Misr El-Maqassa, while Entag remain in the 14th place with 25 points.
