Basketball: Egypt to face Angola in World Cup qualifiers
Egypt men’s basketball national team were drawn alongside Morocco and Angola in Group C of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification.
Egypt will hope for their seventh World Cup appearance, but it won’t be an easy task as they were placed alongside African giants Angola, Morocco, and DR Congo.
The top three teams will qualify to the second round, which will consist of two groups of six teams. The top two teams from each group and the best third place will proceed to the 2019 World Cup in China.
The Pharaohs will kick-off their campaign against DR Congo on the 24th of November, before facing Angola and Morocco on the 25th and 26th of November respectively.
Egypt will then play the return-leg against DR Congo, Angola on the 29th, 30th of June 2018, before facing Morocco on the 1st of July 2018.
It’s worth mentioning that Egypt qualified for the World Cup six times, finishing 5th in 1950 in Argentina and 24th in the last tournament in 2014, which was hosted by Spain.
