Zanaco manager Numba aiming to avoid defeat in Alexandria
Zanaco FC manager Mumamba Numba has admitted that he will be targeting a draw in his side away match against Al Ahly, in the CAF Champions League group stage.
The Zambian side are set to face Egyptian giants Al Ahly next Saturday in Alexandria, to kick off their CAF Champions League group stage campaign.
Both teams were drawn in group D alongside Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca and Cameroon’s Coton Sport.
“Our target is to at least get a draw since we are playing away, but this does not mean that we are going to sit back and defend. We will go out and push for goals and try to win the match,” Numba said in an interview in Lusaka.
“We are facing an experienced side in Al Ahly; they are a good side but we’re ready for this mission. We will be very happy if we can come back from Egypt with something to show for our efforts,” Numba added.
Numba’s men have just beaten Nakambala Leopards in the fifth round of the Zambian league, a result he belives will give the club a timely boost before they leave for Egypt on Wednesday.
“This victory against Nakambala Leopards is a morale-booster. It is important to have confidence when you are travelling for CAF games” Numba concluded.
It is worth mentioning that CAF named the 2017 Glo CAF Referee of the Year Bakary Gassama to officiate the match.
