Al Ahly football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz revealed that the club turned down an offer to face Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich in a friendly match in Dubai.

Abdel-Hafiz confirmed to NRJ radio channel that the Red Devils were offered to play a friendly match against the Bavarians in Dubai on May 24. However, the club turned down the offer as the team will play against Cotton Sport in the CAF Champions League round of 16 on May 23.

The Club of the Century will also clash with Egyptian Premier League second-placed Misr El-Maqassa on May 29 in one of the most important matches for the team this season. Al Ahly are league leaders with 74 points, 11 points away from El-Maqassa.

“We want to play against European clubs as part of our preparations for next season, but these matches must be on dates that suit the club’s schedule,” he explained.

The Red Castle faced Bayern Munich before in a friendly match in Doha, Qatar back in 2012. Al Ahly lost the match 2-1.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
