Zambian side Zanaco will be targeting a victory away from home over eight-time CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly on Saturday.

After eliminating Young Africans of Tanzania and qualifying for the group stage, the Zambian side looks confident of beating Al Ahly in their group stage opener.

Zanaco star Ziyo Tembo said that his teammates are unfazed by their encounter against the Egyptian champions, adding that the manager assembled a strong squad that is ready to go far, causing damage along the way to other teams.

“We are going for a win,” the team’s skipper Tembo told the reporters.

“There is no need to fear them [Al Ahly]. They are a good side with a lot of experience and we respect them. We will do ourselves a huge disservice if we fear them even before we face them. They will field 11 players on the pitch and we are going to have the same number of players. There is no need to fear or get intimidated,” he added.

In addition, Zanaco’s defender Taonga Bwembya, who scored one goal in this season’s CAF Champions League, stressed that he will do all he can for his team to come out on top in this tough task.

“We are going to account ourselves well in Egypt. It will be a tough encounter but we are ready to face them,” the Zambian defender said.

The Red Devils will kick-off their group stage campaign by hosting Zanaco at Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria on Saturday.

The Cairo giants have been drawn in Group D alongside Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca, Coton Sport of Cameroon and Zanaco.
