Ibrahim Salah: Our goal is to compete for Champions League
Zamalek captain Ibrahim Salah has revealed that the CAF Champions League title is the team’s goal this season, adding that victory is their only aim.
The 30-year-old featured as a substitute in Zamalek’s 2-0 win against Zimbabwean side CAPS United in the first round of the group-stages, thanks to a double from Bassem Morsi and Stanley Ohawuchi.
“How we performed against CAPS United shows what we want to achieve,” Ibrahim Salah said in his post-match press conference.
“Our goal is to compete for the CAF Champions League title. The Champions League is separated from the Egyptian Premier League. All the remaining games are tough and victory is our only aim,” he added.
With this result, Zamalek are now second in Group B behind USM Alger on goal difference as the Algerian side claimed a 3-0 home victory over Ahli Tripoli on Friday.
The Whites’ next game will be against Wadi Degla in the Egyptian Premier League on May 18, while their next CAF Champions League match is away against Al Ahli Tripoli on May 23.
