Egypt international Mohamed Salah assisted AS Roma’s third goal as the Giallorossi claimed a 3-1 victory over leaders Juventus on Sunday.

The game started with both teams eying a win in one of the biggest games in the Serie A, which had special importance as the Bianconeri needed only one point from the match to secure their sixth v successive Scudetto title.

In the opening minutes, both teams were having an equal share of the ball but Juventus opened the scoring in the 21st minute after a spectacular pass from Stefano Sturaro to Gonzalo Higuaín who was selfless and passed to Gabon international Mario Lemina who slotted home easily.

However, Juventus’ lead was short-lived as Daniele De Rossi equalised for Roma four minutes later from the rebound after two great saves by Gianluigi Buffon.

Both teams kept pressing for another goal in the remaining 20 minutes before the break, but they failed to add more goals as the first half ended 1-1.

AS Roma started the second half much brighter than Juventus and controlled possession but were lacking in end product.

In the 56th minute, Stephan El Shaarawy doubled Roma’s lead after his shot took a slight deflection off Leonardo Bonucci.

Around 10 minutes later, Radja Nainggolan made it 3-1 for Roma after a smart through ball from Mohamed Salah. After conceding the third goal, Juve became more dominant and tried to reduce the deficit.

In the third minutes of added time, Francesco Totti came on to replace Salah.

Higuain almost pulled one back for Juventus during the last minute of injury time but his shot was saved by Roma keeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Despite the defeat, Juventus remain on top of the league table on 85 points, four clear of second-placed Roma with two games remaining for both sides.

Roma’s next game will be away against Chievo, while Juventus will host Crotone on May 21.
