Egyptian International Karim Hafez played all 90 minutes as RC Lens beat Chamois Niort 3-1, but failed to finish in the promotion spots in Ligue 2.

On the last day of competition, there were six teams who were in with a chance of winning the Ligue 2 title; Lens started the day in fourth place with 62 points from 37 games.

Kermit Erasmus put the hosts ahead in the seventh minute, before top-scorer Cristian Lopez netted their second goal in the 15th minute from Bourigeaud’s assist.

In the 58th minute, Cvetinovic conceded a penalty, which Ndoh scored to pull Niort back into the game.

In the 93rd minute, Lopez scored his second goal of the night, to seal the three points.

However, with Strasbourg, Amiens, and Troyes winning, Lens were unable to finish in the automatic promotion or playoff positions.

With the conclusion of the season, Hafez’s loan has ended and the defender will return to his parent club Lierse in Belgium.
