Mohamed Salah has set his sights on securing second place in Serie A next weekend, host Genoa in the final match of the season.

Talking to Roma TV after his side’s 3-5 victory away to Chievo Verona on Saturday, Salah expressed his happiness at the result.

“I’m thrilled with our performance today; we played a great match and I was very focused because we had to win,” the winger enthused.

“The next match against Genoa is crucial, because we want second place.

“When I returned from the Africa Cup of Nations, I was exhausted because of the hot weather in Gabon and because we had to play eight matches,” he continued.

Salah scored 15 times and provided a further 11 assists in the league in 2016/17, an improvement upon his already impressive debut season with the capital club.

Talking  to Sky Sports, Salah said, “Every match, I want to give 100% to help the team, but it’s difficult sometimes.”

“I have had a good season and the team scored a lot of goals; Juventus are one point away, but they have two matches remaining. It is very tough; Juventus are a huge team and our main goal was to finish in second place,” Salah concluded.

Roma now have 84 points after 37 matches, just one ahead of Napoli with one match remaining.
