Omar Gaber: I am not thinking about returning to Egypt
Egypt international Omar Gaber responded to rumors that linked him to returning to Zamalek next season after spending one year with FC Basel.
Gaber became the fourth Egypt international to win the league title with Basel after Ahmed Hamoudi, Mohamed Elneny and Mohamed Salah.
“I’ve played 15 matches with Basel this season in all competitions and made two assists, I was aiming for more game time but this was a good season for me,” Gaber told Sada El Balad TV channel. “I still have three seasons in my contract with FC Basel, Overall, I am satisfied with the whole experience in Switzerland so far and I hope I can play more games next season.”
The 25-year-old player assured that what is being said about his return to Egypt and to Zamalek is not correct. “People who have nothing to do promote such news. Basel did not buy a player for 1.65 million euros so that he can leave after just one season,” he added.
Gaber assured that no one from Zamalek talked with him about returning and that he is only in contact with the players. “I am not thinking about returning to Egypt now at all. I want to stay abroad, I have ambitions and goals to achieve first,” said the former Zamalek player.
