CAF hand Smouha multiple suspensions
Smouha received an official letter from the Confederation of African Football ‘CAF’ confirming the suspension of the team’s forward Hossam Hassan for two games.
The suspension came following Hassan’s assault on the Ghanian referee who officiated Smouha’s game against Zesco United in their CAF Confederation Cup Group C opener at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium which the Alexandrian side lost 1-0. Hassan assaulted the referee after the game ended because of a penalty kick awarded to Zesco.
Momen Soliman’s men will be facing Angolan Recreativo do Libolo on Wednesday in the second round of Group C. In addition to Hassan, the team will miss the services of Mahmoud Sayed, Omar Saad, Mahmoud Ezzat, Mansou Kouakou and Ahmed Temsah due to their ACL injuries.
Also, Ahmed Nabil ‘Manga’ will not play the game as he suffers from a strained ankle, while Patrik Malo will not be playing for receiving two yellow cards.
