Al Ahly put their recent woes behind them with a huge result in Garoua, as they claimed a 2-0 win over Coton Sport in the CAF Champions League.

After several draws in recent weeks, manager Hossam El-Badry and his players were under increasing scrutiny, and a tough away trip to Coton Sport was probably the last thing they needed.

However, three draws and three Al Ahly wins in the six games between the two sides gave the Egyptians some hope before the encounter.

Junior Ajayi capitalized on poor defending to fire Al Ahly in front in the 12th minute, to calm his side’s nerves somewhat.

Just two minutes later, Momen Zakaria’s strike doubled the lead, as the hosts seemed to be in disarray.

Al Ahly then withstood an onslaught from their opponents for the rest the match, as they managed to keep a clean sheet despite facing 24 shots.

The win sees Al Ahly temporarily take the lead in Group D, with Wydad Casablanca due to face Zanaco tomorrow. Coton Sport, meanwhile, are rooted to the bottom of the standings with two losses in two matches.
