Former AFC Ajax striker and current Wadi Degla coach Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’ revealed that his former Dutch club is interested in RC Lens’ Karim Hafez.

Hafez, who is currently at Ligue 2 side RC Lens on loan from Lierse SK, recently failed to finish with his club in the automatic promotion or playoff positions for Ligue 1. This might be decisive regarding the left back’s future. Foot Mercato also reported before Ajax’s interest in the Egyptian international.

“Hafez is a really great talent. He is now 21 years old and is constantly improving,” Mido told Ajax1. “He ended the season very well and I’ve heard that Ajax is interested. I really think he fits at Ajax.”

Lens has the option to activate the buy-out close in Hafez’s contract as his one-year loan ends in 2018. On the other side, Ajax already has several players who can fill Hafez’s position like Daley Sinkgraven, Nick Viergever and Jaïro Riedewald.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
