Al Ahly: Souleymane Coulibaly’s absence won’t affect us
Al Ahly’s general coach Ahmed Ayoub has revealed his side won’t be affected by Coulibaly’s absence as they prepare for the crucial encounter with El-Maqassa.
The Ivorian forward travelled to England on Thursday without the club’s permission, sending Al Ahly’s director of football Sayed Abdel-Hafiz a text message, telling him that he will explain his reasons later.
Dan Chapman, sports lawyer and senior partner at Full Contact – the agency that represents Coulibaly – denied that the Ivorian player is intending to leave Al Ahly, but he is got a family emergency to deal with.
“The players are ready for the crucial game against Misr El-Maqassa. We are only concentrating on the next game and Souleymane Coulibaly’s absence won’t affect us,” Ayoub said.
“Al Ahly have 30 players and all of them are on the same level of efficiency and experience. We have alternatives to Coulibaly in attack and they have experiences to deal with any circumstances,” he added.
A draw against Misr El-Maqassa will be enough for the Reds to lift the Egyptian Premier League title, and Ayoub is confident in his players’ abilities to get the job done on Monday.
“Everyone is concentrating on the technically difficult game against El-Maqassa. We are confident that the players will officially secure the Premier League title against them,” Ayoub continued.
“A victory against El-Maqassa will make the players concentrate on the African Champions League and the tough game against Wydad Athletic,” he concluded.
Al Ahly currently top the Premier League table with 75 points, 12 points ahead of second-placed Misr El-Maqassa, who they will face on Monday, May 29 at 22:00 CLT.
